Feeding

Feeding deepens the connection between you and your new baby. It's recommended to breastfeed for at least twelve months.

Benefits of Breastfeeding
  • Breast milk is healthier than formula
  • It's nature's way
  • Strengthens baby's immune system, helping him fight off diseases
  • Supports growth and development
  • Helps return mother's body to its pre-pregnancy state
Bathing

Bathing your baby is another opportunity for a parent-child bonding experience. Talk to your baby as you bathe him/her. It can be a fun activity for both of you and this is the best way for your baby's brain to grow!

Crying

Cries mean different things for a baby. Sometimes they may be asking you to comfort them and hold them. Take this as an opportunity to become close and bond with your baby.

When you respond to your crying baby, they will know they can count on you. Studies show they will cry less in the long run.

Post-Birth

Most women experience some feelings of anxiety and sadness after their baby is born. However, Postpartum Depression (PPD) is more severe and prolonged. And avoiding counseling and support can seriously affect potential bonding with your baby as well as the baby's growth, development, health and safety.

Eye Contact

From the moment of birth, babies are ready to make eye contact. It's this loving connection between parents and family with the baby that can result in healthy emotions and creates a good foundation for learning.

Communication

Attachment can happen through communication--sometimes without using any words at all.

You are your child's first teacher. It's never too early to start reading to your baby. This is a special moment between the two of you.

Healthy communication includes:
  • Crying
  • Loving and holding
  • Babbling
  • Laughing
Talking & Listening

Talking and listening to your baby is one important way they begin to feel valued and respected.

Singing & Talking

You can sing, too. Through singing, babies learn a lot about language.
