How can I get a Kit for New Parents?

First 5 California has partnered with hospitals, clinics, county agencies, home visitation programs and parenting education providers to distribute the Kit to new and expecting parents across the state. Parents can also order a Kit by calling (800) KIDS-025.

How much does the Kit cost?

Not one cent. Although the Kit has a retail value of $75, First 5 California provides it to Californians for free so that all parents have access to the information and resources they need to best prepare for their new baby.

How does the new Kit differ from the original?

The Kit has been completely revised and updated to include the latest early childhood development information, new content, user-friendly improvements, a fresh look, and technological upgrades, such a single DVD replacing seven VHS tapes.

**First 5 California initiated lead testing of our Kits with the County of Sacramento Department of Health and Human Services-Childhood Lead Poisoning and Prevention Program (DHHS-CLPPP). All materials in our Kits tested negative for lead content.
