This position is responsible for promoting school readiness through planning and facilitation of parent-child interaction classes; introducing early literacy, numeracy, and/or social-emotional development to children ages 1-5; completing a minimum of 1700 hours by the end of the contract term. First 5 Fresno County is a public organization that was created in 1998 when California voters passed Proposition 10, known as “The Children and Families Act.” Since its inception, F5FC has invested more than $200 million in local programs that provide direct services to young children and their families. These investments support high quality preventative health, early learning, and family support services that help give children the best possible start in life.
The First 5 Fresno County Commission is made up of seven commissioners and a staff that carries out the Commission’s work. Commissioners are appointed by members of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors and include representatives from the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and individuals who have an expertise in serving children and families.
Commissioners meet monthly and they serve two-year terms and can be re-appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
